In his many letters to the early church, St. Paul outlined the idea of Christian communities that would constantly be growing in faith and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. At First Congregational Church, we strive to place spiritual formation for all ages at the very center of our life together.

At First Congregational Church, we recognize that all believers are called to a life long journey of faith and that the spiritual development of all of our members is vital to the vibrancy of our ministry to the world. We, therefore, offer programs ranging from nursery care to Sunday School for children, as well as ongoing programs for youth and adults.

Many of our faith development programs are run by our Board of Deacons, whose primary charge it is to support the spiritual life of our congregation. Some offerings are led by our Pastor, Bonnie, while still others, such as our small groups ministry, were born from the talents and interest of a few congregants. We embrace the challenge of continued growth for all of our members and welcome your ideas and participation.

Sunday School
Our Sunday School is taught by members of the congregation united in a common purpose to cultivate the faith development of our children and youth. We use a lectionary-based curriculum called Seasons of the Spirit. You may now register for Sunday school with our convenient online registration form. Or, if you prefer, you may download the form, complete it, and return it to the Church office. For more information, email Todd Gernes.

Children's Education
We offer childcare for infants and toddlers and a faith-development curriculum from preschool through 10th grade (Confirmation). Our focus is on biblical literacy, thoughtful theology, and spiritual exploration and growth. The vision of our present curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, "is for an authentic Christianity lived in our culturally diverse and religiously pluralistic world; to be signs of God's liberating, compassionate, and inclusive love, and to grow in our relationship with God."

Our Christian Education Committee organizes a variety of family-friendly events geared to the religious calendar to complement our curriculum, including an Advent Workshop, a festive Mardi Gras dinner, and an informative and fun Walk Through Holy Week. Our vibrant music programs for children and youth complete the picture with much joyful noise! We are an inclusive church and welcome families of all kinds.

Adult Education
We offer a variety of short-term groups and classes designed to fit into people’s busy schedules. Recent opportunities have included Still Speaking Circles, a Spiritual Journeys Group, an invitation into a life of prayer, and a book discussion course about the Historical Jesus, and programs about science and theology.
